Family Reunion

It’s time to mark your calendar for the 39th Annual Glencoe McDonald Family Reunion. Bub, Jeffie, Charlie Bill and Stephanie have kindly invited Clan members to convene at Glencoe once again.

This year, the reunion starts Saturday, July 3rd at 11:00 am and ends on Sunday, July 4th at 5:00 pm. We have no events planned for Friday.

	1pm	Business Meeting
	2:15	Volleyball and Water Slide
	3pm	Children Games Children Games Water balloon toss, egg toss, 3 legged pair racing, sack race Ice cream wagon @ end of games
	3:30pm	Adult Games Caber toss (male & female), Sand bag toss (male & female)
	5:15pm	McDucky Derby
	6pm	Dinner - Leftovers & Hotdogs Silent auction drawing(2)
	7pm	Watermelon Eating Contest
	7:30pm	Bonfire, family talent show and Sing-a-Long
	8:30pm	Campout

(1) Seniors will be invited to go through the lunch line first (Senior defined as > 70 yrs of age).
(2) Individual does not need to be present to win an item from silent auction

The campout starts immediately after the bonfire, so bring your gear. Motor homes and campers are welcome.
Note: Any camper under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent………no exceptions!

The weekend is full of activities and games for everyone. The McDucky Derby (2$/duck), Scottish games, silent auction (0.50 $/ticket), kid’s games, crafts, McDonald family trivia, and the giant waterslide are all planned for Saturday. Watermelon eating contest, hayrides and ongoing fellowship are planned for Sunday.

The 2nd annual silent auction will be held on Saturday. The silent auction was a great hit last year and could be even better. Please remember to bring donations of “re-gifts and crafts” to be used for the auction. A follow up email reminder will be sent 2 weeks prior to the reunion, but please put the reminder on your calendar, blackberry, computer, cell phone or any other “device” used today to organize one’s activities and let’s have participation for a great auction!

Laminated 11 x 17 Glencoe McDonald genealogy diagrams will be available at the reunion this year for purchase. It is incredible how “Andrew McDonald’s” family has grown going back to 1724, but we have successfully presented the genealogy tree in easy to view and understand document(s). It is a great tool for visualizing our family’s lineage and “seconds” as a unique conversation piece to communicate the unique McDonald genealogy and family traditions.

We have a block of rooms (11) reserved at the Hampton Inn - Inwood (304-229-6677). Make sure you mention the McDonald Family Reunion to receive the discounted rate (87 $/night). Other hotels in the area include the Days Inn - Martinsburg (304-263-1800) and the Hampton Inn - Martinsburg (304-267-2900).

We’re looking forward to another great reunion, so get those lawn chairs and picnic baskets ready.
